Hi guys! For those of you who don't know me — my name is Rachael, and I am the face behind Polly. As a Tacoma native — I love supporting small & local businesses and have always admired a creative eye. I had a mentor a few years back explain to me that I was a "Taste Maker." Intrigued, I explored more in-depth what this meant and how it applied to me — I'd always had a knack for taking on creative challenges and enjoyed the presentation of these elements on a larger scale. But honestly, it wasn't just the creative elements I enjoyed; it was ALL about the whole planning process. I LOVE having a lot on my plate— and I find the unveiling of months of hard work really satisfying. I love being in the biz that makes beautiful things come together. I have been lucky enough to get my feet wet (over the last 10+ years) by planning company holiday parties for previous employers, florals for multiple friends' weddings, and hosting many personal affairs at our home in Tacoma for friends and family. Just for fun, really — a side hustle. It didn't occur to me that I should take this anywhere else until being a stay-at-home mama was looming on the horizon. I wasn't ready to go full-tilt SAHM. I genuinely believe that I can show up better for my family when I have something like this — a creative outlet. So two weeks after returning from maternity leave to my 8-5, I decided to skip my lunch and answer a venue hosting position. The stars were aligning y'all! Finally, the solution to my frustration with finding available infant childcare. A job I could enjoy, make my hours, watch my babes grow and help create beautiful events. I ended up getting the job and resigned from my 8-5 the following week! And in case you’re wondering I haven’t looked back!
